The Recreational Navigation Commission (RecCom) of PIANC is composed by international experts mainly appointed by their PIANC National Section.
Each member country of PIANC is entitled to propose from their membership one representative and one alternate, who are both highly qualified.
Each member country is entitled to appoint three representatives as observers of the Commission works, who at the beginning (or the prolongation) of their four-year mandate may not have reached the age of forty.
The Commission has three permanent subcommittee, for better dealing with specific activities:
- Communication & Editing (C&E) subcommittee manages the communication strategy (website, newsletter, e.g.), relationships with magazines and web portals and prepares articles about the RecCom activities
- MEDA subcommittee deals with the management of activities related to the Marina Excellence Design 'Jack Nichol' Award
- MDTP subcommittee deals with the management of activities related to the Marina Designer Training Program
